All About Me - Laila Keppard

ree

Hi there and welcome to my page! You can learn more about me below~

About Me

My name is Laila Keppard and I am originally from Alameda, California. All throughout my life, I have been entranced by art in its various forms, but I decided to start focusing on pursuing a career as a writer during senior year of high school. In the future, I aspire to become a novelist and dabble in poetry on the side.

Majors/Interests

I'm a Creative Writing major here at Columbia College Chicago. However, I am also interested in film, dance, music, and photography as they are all creative forms of expression that assist me in the process of storytelling. Oftentimes, I will take video clips from dances or movies and edit them with music to build a scene. I love to explore how far my creativity can take me, no matter what that may entail.

Group Role

In our flamenco group, I am taking on the roles of organizing, note-taking, and adding pizzazz where it is needed.

Relationship to Flamenco

I have studied the Spanish language for the past five years, but I never truly came to appreciate the Spanish culture until I visited the northern part of the country with my class for an educational trip during junior year of high school. In Madrid, I had the opportunity to see an authentic flamenco show and I was automatically drawn to the dance style. Although the movements do not vary as much as in hip-hop or contemporary dance, I love the passion that can be expressed through the rhythm and footwork of flamenco, so I have chosen to investigate it further.
