Major/Role

I am currently attending Columbia College Chicago in order to pursue a bachelor's degree in Filmmaking, while considering taking up a minor in Directing, Cinematography, or Music.

In this group, given my field of interest, I am taking on videographer/photographer, along with my other fellow film majors in the group.

Relationship to Dance

Dance was one of those areas that I always found interesting from afar, but never close up. Yet, I never took the time to appreciate the artistic format of dance. My best friend growing up is spectacular dancer in this field, and watching his performances always intrigued me. There was a certain beauty to the way he could form and fold his body.

Reading some of our first assigned articles, I felt I was finally able to perceive dance from a whole new perspective. Not only what it could symbolize, but how us as filmmakers showcase it to audiences and what the audience can perceive by watching. I never understood how we film dance pieces could really change the opinion of what goes into making the routine; the work and the dedication alike. I would hope to change that in coming years. Rather than use dance as a spectacle, make it meaningful.
